What All could Cause Back Pain?

Low back pain is the most common form of physical disability. An estimated 80 percent of all Americans will suffer from back pain at some point in their lives. Chronic back pain is generally defined as pain that persists for more than three months. The pain may be progressive, or may occasionally flare up and then return to a lower level of pain. Chronic back pain is the involuntary, habituated contraction of muscles induced by emotional issues, stress and an ongoing reaction to the pain (except where there is a severe physical injury or a documented disease process). The pain is real.

How to Treat Back Pain?
Back pain is extremely common in today's society. More than 65 million Americans suffer from back pain every year. Back pain is the most common and costly occupational disability in the United States. Billions of dollars are lost each year because of work time lost to back pain. Most nonspecific back pain is probably caused by muscle strain. It usually responds to 2-5 days of rest and pain medications such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), which includes ibuprofen and naproxen, followed by gradual return to activities.

If your chronic back pain isn't helped by exercises, painkillers or manipulation, then surgery is considered as a last resort. There are different types of back surgery. Low back pain is common. At some point in their lives, most people will experience some form of back discomfort. Over time, back pain is all but inevitable.
